Frequently Asked Questions

New to Toddlers Love To Cook? You’re in the right place. Here are some of the most common questions we hear from fellow parents and caregivers. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, just send us a message. We’re happy to help.

How This All Works

Do I need to be a “good cook” to do this with my toddler?

Not at all! This is about connection, not perfection. We keep the recipes super simple, and so easy that even toddlers might understand. You don’t need fancy techniques or experience. As long as you can dedicate some time and are mentally ready to be in the kitchen you’re ready.

What if my toddler doesn’t actually help that much?

That’s okay too. Just having them nearby while you prep or letting them watch from a learning tower builds confidence over time. Every small moment counts.

Isn’t it easier (and cleaner) to cook without kids?

Yes, sometimes it is! But the goal here isn’t speed, it’s helping your child build life skills, independence, and a healthy relationship with food. Even the mess is part of the learning.

I tried cooking with my toddler and it didn’t go well. Should I try again?

Yes, and keep it low-pressure. Some days go great, others go sideways. You can always start small, even stirring yogurt or peeling a banana counts. Toddlers learn best with time and repetition. Let’s schedule a personal consult to set you up for success this time!

Booking & Sessions

How do I book a toddler cooking consultation?

You can book a one-on-one virtual session on our booking page. Just pick a time that works for you, pay securely online, and you’ll get a confirmation email with everything you need.

Can I reschedule or cancel my session?

Yes, totally. As long as it’s more than 1 day before your appointment, you can head to your My Bookings page to reschedule. We also allow refunds for cancellations made at least 2 days before the event.

How do I reschedule?

Just log into your My Bookings dashboard and choose a new time. It only takes a minute.

Do I need to have my toddler on camera?

Not at all! For our personal consultations, we ask that the parent at least comes on camera so we can have a conversation and really personalize the plan for your needs. You are not required to even have your toddler around for the personal consultations. For our group workshops, you can choose to be off-camera, or position the camera in a way that the toddler is not on camera, if you so please.

What to Expect

What ages is this for?

These sessions are made for toddlers and preschoolers, roughly ages 2 to 5, but every kiddo is welcome. We keep things flexible and fun.

What should we bring?

Typically none. For our group virtual classes, we will send a prep list, including tools and ingredients, so you are ready to go for the class. Don’t worry, we will try to keep the list small and easy to get started with.

Does my toddler need to stay the whole time?

Nope! Toddlers move around, and that’s totally okay. Some stay engaged the whole time, others pop in and out. We keep things low-pressure and child-led. We will try to use language and tricks to encourage them to re-engage but it is only natural, especially for younger toddlers, to lose focus or want to get their wiggles out in the middle of these sessions

Recipes & Resources

Where can I find your free toddler-friendly recipes?

We’ve got a growing collection of simple recipes on our Recipes page. They’re perfect for curious toddlers and easy on the cleanup too.

What are visual recipes?

Visual recipes are step-by-step printables with pictures, so your toddler can help follow along even if they can’t read yet. You’ll find them in our shop along with activity printables and other helpful downloads.

I bought a download but didn’t get it. What should I do?

Check your email (and maybe the spam folder, just in case). You should have received a link right after purchase. Still stuck? Reach out and we’ll take care of it.

Safety & Accessibility

Do you ask about allergies?

Yes! You can let us know about any allergies when you book, and we’ll help with swaps if needed.

I don’t have fancy kitchen gear. Is that okay?

Absolutely. No special tools needed. A butter knife, small bowl, and a curious little helper are more than enough.

Do you offer in-person events too?

Sometimes! Join our email list or follow along on Instagram to hear about local pop-ups sessions when they happen. Additionally, all in-person events will be shared on our In-person events page.
